Exercise & Mental Health

Mental Health can be a difficult issue and the chances are you or someone that you know has had to deal with mental health issues at some point in their life.

Fortunately there are a few fundamental things that can be done to improve your mental wellbeing.

These can include:

  • Exercise
  • Nutrition 
  • Community 
  • Sleep 
  • Personal time 
  • Goals and achievements

Today we want to just quickly brush on Exercise.

Now this exercise doesn’t have to be intense or long in duration.  In fact just three, 30 minute walks of moderate intensity (get the heart rate slightly elevated) per week has shown improvement in a number of ways such as:

  • reducing anxiety, depression & a negative mood
  • While improving self esteem and cognitive function.

Three, 10-minute walks are believed to be as equally useful as one, 30-minute walk. Like anything, start off small and work your way up.  

There is a large list of benefits to exercise but when it comes to your mental health, this is a sure way to help give yourself a fighting chance.
